How to Master Current Affairs for Kerala PSC 2025
Stop reading random news. Follow this structured approach.
Current Affairs is the game-changer in LDC and Degree Level Preliminary exams. However, the syllabus is vast. The key is not to read everything, but to filter news relevant to the exam pattern.
1. The "Filter" Method
When reading a newspaper (Mathrubhumi or Manorama), only note down news that falls into these PSC-favorite categories:
- Awards: Nobel, Oscars, Jnanpith, Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, O.N.V Award.
- Sports: Olympics, World Cups (Winners & Venues), Tennis Grand Slams.
- Appointments: Heads of Constitutional Bodies (UPSC, EC), RBI Governor, UN Secretary-General.
- Kerala Schemes: LIFE Mission, Ardram, Haritha Keralam. Know the launch year and objective.
2. Note-Making Strategy
Do not write news chronologically in a diary. You will never revise it. Instead, create a Section-Wise Notebook:
- Page 1-10: Persons in News & Obituaries.
- Page 11-20: Awards & Honours.
- Page 21-30: Sports & Games.
- Page 31-40: Science, Tech & Space (ISRO missions).
3. Revision Cycle
Current affairs are volatile memory. Use the 1-7-30 Rule:
Revise today's news immediately. Revise the week's news every Sunday. Revise the month's news on the 1st of next month.
4. Sources
Newspapers: Mandatory for regional news and government ads regarding schemes.
Magazines: Use Thozhil Vartha or Competition Success Review for monthly consolidation.
MasteryExams App: Use our weekly quizzes to test your recall speed.
